This week’s Friday preview is a standard English Sonnet, ABAB CDCD EFEF GG. This day was a two sonnet day, the second one being a standard Petrarchan. Let this one steep over the weekend. I’ll give a hint that I intentionally reference 2 songs in this one, see if you can pick them out. Vincent by Don McLean is not one of them, I used this picture for a different reason.
The Dawn Breaks Cold #198 A new world beckons from the dreams I saw. Fantastic fields of gold I'd never known Arising from the dawn of winter's thaw When all was set to live in joy alone. I walked this wonderland amidst the crash While fair winds soothed the pain I'd laid aside. My prison walls of velvet turned to ash Releasing heart of all my hopes denied. In darkness for a time I walked in fear Till long forgotten strains restored my soul. The melodies that once dried every tear Returned abilities to heart console. This heart afraid of breaking took its chance And winning loser once again may dance. Frank Garnick © Copyright The Archer's March 20 November 2022
I had planned an unscheduled post yesterday on the 38th anniversary of Live Aid, but grandfather duties prevented me. I think I’ll incorporate that into this Sunday’s post.
Thank you for reading and have a wonderful weekend.

"prison walls of velvet" - I like the idea of soft incarceration, as if we are schmoozed into our own prison walls, softly. I recognised "Fields of Gold". I never heard the Sting version but I did have the cover by Eva Cassidy. I look forward to your thoughts on Live Aid.
