"prison walls of velvet" - I like the idea of soft incarceration, as if we are schmoozed into our own prison walls, softly. I recognised "Fields of Gold". I never heard the Sting version but I did have the cover by Eva Cassidy. I look forward to your thoughts on Live Aid. Good pick. I only heard the Sting version once, to see the origin of Eva Cassidy's version. Also spot on regarding the "prison walls of velvet", much better than stone. Especially when we are able to burn them to ash. Velvet is easier to overcome when we can realize how simple they are to destroy. Introspection and force of will.

I like that article. We are separated by almost two decades and 3,000 miles. I understand fairly well both your generation and your countrymen, though. It was a pleasant trip back and a good read to prepare my Live Aid piece. Maybe 150 thousand or so people attended the two concerts and 38 years downrange I wonder how many are left. I'm pretty happy to be one of them and still above ground.
