Welcome back. First productive week so far this year. Three sonnets in four days. I wrote only six in the last calendar year, so I’m pretty ecstatic right now.
This is a Crybin Variant Petrarchan, ABBACDDC EFGEFG. Yes, I know that last week’s post was incorrectly classified in the actual post. (I guess I don’t have enough readers for anyone to notice) I did make a comment admitting my mistake.
I can’t tell you how happy I am with my output this week. Not necessarily regarding quality, just that I’ve written a half year’s worth (based on 2024) of 3 sonnets in 4 days. Maybe Calliope will visit me more often if I can only make the effort.
The final words in lines two and four should be pronounced as two syllables. As in, desahre and fahre.
You’re All I’ve Found #284 My muse, this morning, comes to me to flirt. Her charms’ appeals increase my heart’s desire As pulse ramps up and sets my soul afire. She knows my hunger, for ‘tis not covert. This union that I seek each waking morn, That otf' elusive state, ecstatic bliss, For all I want, Calliope’s your kiss. When that is missed, my soul is left to mourn. Yet now you’ve granted me a fine octet. First base achieved, I press for that home-run, With she who elevates my very soul. The trysts we’ve shared I never will forget, For your love for me’s brighter than the sun. You’re all I’ve found that e’er could make me whole. You can interpret this any way that you’d like. After all, any poem should be made personal by all readers. For me it was simply a conversation with my muse. Begging for words to express my feelings this morning. When I’m able to “punch out” a sonnet in 30 minutes after such a drought as the last year was for me, I’m very happy. Especially with two more produced earlier in the week. I think I’ll post the sonnet I wrote last Wednesday (I’m writing this on Friday afternoon, February 7th), Wheels of Joy #283, since it is deeply linked to this one.
Thank you for reading and have a wonderful day.
By the way, I’ve started the process of publishing a book, digital and physical. I’m hoping this will be available before May. Quite a milestone for this blue collar fella. This is my tentative workup of a cover.
Again, thank you for reading.
And great game last night, Go Birds!
And if you’ve a mind to, buy me a coffee.
Note on lines 2 and 3. I had meant that Desire should be read as two syllables, and fire as one.
